Day 01

LAHORE – ISLAMABAD    
ISLAMABAD – ABBOTTABAD    (115Km  2/3 hrs)

  • Morning Departure for Abbottabad with a short visit of Taxila, the capital of Gandhara.
  • Overnight hotel in Abbottabad.

 

Day 02

ABBOTTABAD – BESHAM – MINGORA     (250 Km, 7/8 hrs)

  • Morning departure for Swat Valley, over the Karakoram Highway. The drive takes you through fascinating Pathan villages and an Alpine landscape. Follow mighty river Indus upstream to Besham. Cross scenic Shangla Pass to enter Swat Valley.
  • Afternoon free for leisure in Mingora.
  • Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 03

SWAT – TAKHAT-E-BHAI – PESHAWAR     (170 Km  4/5 hrs)

  • Morning departure by road to Takhat-i-Bhai with its Gandhara ruins. On a rocky spur, Takhat-i-Bhai dates back to the Kushana Period (4-5 AD) and was an important destination for Buddhist pilgrims from China and India. The monastery contains stone and stucco sculptures arranged on small shrines that surround the main stupa.
  • Proceed to Peshawar.
  • Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 04

KHYBER PASS – LAHORE                                                                         (490 Km 6/7 hrs)   

  • After breakfast make the historic journey up the Khyber Pass. The drama begins at the Jamrud Fort built by the Sikhs in 1823 when they attempted to control the uncontrollable Pathans. The road snakes through Rocky Mountains. Nearly every peak is crowned with a British fort that looks down at the impenetrable Pathan clay fortresses where guns would poke through turrets. This is tribal territory, and guns settle disputes. Our journey ends at Machnai Post near a popular smuggler’s town.
  • Later drive for Lahore.
